A ruler is an instrument used in geometry, technical drawing, printing, engineering and building to measure distances or to rule straight lines. Most rulers have numbers ( parallel to the measuring edge ) and little lines ( perpendicular to the measuring edge ). Rulers come in many different forms. They can be made of wood, metal or plastic. Rulers also come in variety of lengths. The one that we usually use at school is 30 cm is length. Sometimes we also use the 15 cm one. To measure something that is longer, we also need a longer ruler.
